Travelling, with all the planning, packing, adjusting to being in a new climate or schedule or lack of schedule, is work!  To be a traveller means to be, at some point in the journey--thirsty, hungry and tired!  We're not in the comforts of home any more.  No wonder the English word to travel comes from the French word for pain, travails, travailler.  Children like and need routines.
